
2027 EXEC NOMINATIONS
Nominations for the 2027 UQMC Executive Team are open! It is that time of year again. We're looking for a group of enthusiastic members new and old to keep the club fires burning!
We have opened nominations early this year to give you plenty of time to look through positions, talk to new and old exec, think about who you want to nominate and what roles you would be suited to yourself!

AGM: 11 October 2026 at 3:15-5:30pm, The Meeting Place

Nomination process:
​
To nominate someone for an executive role, send us an email at **uqmountainclub@gmail.com **with the person's name and the role (see below). If you can include why you think they would be good in the exec that is even better! You can also nominate yourself.
​
Please be aware that the deadline for sending in nominations is Sunday the 27th of September. We will present the nominees on Sunday the 4th of October and hold the voting at the AGM on Sunday the 11th of October.

President
​
Commitment: 15–20 hours per week.
​
Responsibilities:
• Lead the executive team and chair meetings.
• Liaise with UQ Sport and external stakeholders.
• Manage and resolve conflicts.
• Delegate tasks effectively.
• Sign sponsorship and affiliation agreements.
• Oversee review and updates of programs, policies and activities.
• Maintain and enforce safety culture and compliance.

Ideal for: An organised, motivated leader with strong communication skills.
​
Treasurer
​
Commitment: 10–15 hours per week.
​
Responsibilities:
• Prepare the annual budget (gear, trips, events, admin).
• Manage finances: bank account, inflows/outflows, membership payments, invoices.
• Oversee trip finances (bookings, deposits, costings).
• Complete audits for the Office of Fair Trading.
• Track gear depreciation and hire costs (with Quartermaster).

Ideal for: Detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable explaining finances. Experience with budgets or auditing is helpful but not required.

​
Secretary
​
Commitment: 10–15 hours per week.
​
Responsibilities:
• Manage communications and deadlines.
• Handle the email inbox.
• Schedule and minute meetings.
• Maintain by-laws, constitution, and Google Drive.
• Oversee memberships and paperwork.
• Support website security and updates.
• Run the AGM and handle nominations.
• Assist with group chats, carpool sheets, and event postings.

Ideal for: Organised, fast-typing, and email-savvy.
​​
​
Quartermaster
​
Commitment: ~10 hours per week.
​
Responsibilities:
• Track, inspect, and maintain all club gear.
• Keep storage organised.
• Oversee gear loans, deposits, and tracking systems.
• Purchase new gear (with Treasurer/President/VP Community).
• Compile gear lists for insurance.
• Manage St Lucia Box opening hours.
• Register emergency beacons.

Ideal for: Organised, resourceful, gear-knowledgeable, and willing to wrangle missing equipment.

​
Vice-President (Trips)
​
Commitment: 10–15 hours per week.
​
Responsibilities:
• Supervise Hiking, Climbing, Multisport, and Skills Coordinators.
• Create and manage the trip calendar.
• Organise logistics: trip leaders, gear, bookings.
• Run KP roster.
• Organise UQ Sport swim tests.
• Oversee trip leader subcommittee.
• Ensure activity plans, policies, and procedures are current.
• Ensure skills programs and assessments are delivered.

Ideal for: Organised, detail-focused, and good at coordinating people.
​​
​
Climbing Coordinator
​
Commitment: 10–15 hours per week.
​
Responsibilities:
• Lead Climbing Subcommittee and semester planning.
• Create event pages, group chats, and carpool sheets.
• Manage logistics and trip leaders.
• Check signups for swim certs, skill levels, gear.
• Organise Townsville and Blue Mountains trips.
​
Ideal for: Passionate climber, organised, and able to teach safe practices.
​​
​
Hiking Coordinator
​
Commitment: 10–15 hours per week.
​
Responsibilities:
• Lead Hiking Subcommittee and semester planning.
• Manage event logistics and trip leaders.
• Organise mid-semester and end-of-year trips.
​
Ideal for: Experienced hiker with strong local track knowledge.
​​
​
Multisport Coordinator
​
Commitment: 5–10 hours per week.
​
Responsibilities:
• Plan canyoning, rogaining, trail running, and other activities.
• Manage logistics and trip leaders.
• Organise canyoning during Blue Mountains trip.
​
Ideal for: Enthusiastic about multisport adventures, keen to coordinate diverse activities.
​​
​
Skills Coordinator
​
Commitment: 5–10 hours per week.
​
Responsibilities:
• Organise and oversee skills programs (climbing tapes, hiking skills, self-rescue), including VR refreshers.
• Assess skills and ensure safety standards.
• Provide fair access to training.
​
Ideal for: Experienced in climbing/canyoning, safety-minded, enjoys teaching.
​​
​
Vice-President (Community & Engagement)
​
Commitment: 10–15 hours per week.
​
Responsibilities:
• Supervise Social Media, Website & Publications, and Events roles.
• Manage sponsorships, grants, and alumni relations.
• Organise gear nights and Market Day stalls.
​
Ideal for: Professional, community-minded, and confident in outreach and partnerships.
​​
​
Social Media Officer
​
Commitment: 5–10 hours per week.
​
Responsibilities:
• Run Facebook and Instagram accounts.
• Post event calendars and trip reports.
• Respond to messages and maintain chats.
• Ensure posts are inclusive and reflect UQMC’s spirit.
​
Ideal for: Creative, communicative, and social-media savvy.
​​
​
Social Events Officer
​
Commitment: 5–10 hours per week.
​
Responsibilities:
• Plan and run social activities: welcome party, trip report nights, bouldering comp, awards night, pub nights, anniversary events.
• Prepare activity plans and manage bookings with Treasurer.
​
Ideal for: Outgoing, organised, and creative with event ideas.
​​
Website & Publications Officer
​
Commitment: 5–10 hours per week.
​
Responsibilities:
• Produce Beta Magazine and club newsletters.
• Manage website updates.
• Oversee club merchandise and exec t-shirt design.
​
Ideal for: Tech-savvy, creative, and keen on design, writing, and merch.
