UQMC FILM FESTIVAL

Did you know that UQMC is running its very own amatuer film festival this year - and you can be a part of it? We have prizes to give away to entrants, including a $500 cash prize to our 1st Place Winner!

Who can enter

​

Any current member, past member, or friend of UQMC member can submit a film! You can enter as many films as you would like, but only nominate one for the $500 cash prize.

How to enter

​

Step 1 - Make a film!

 

The theme is outdoor advenutue, and we are giving the words 'outdoors' and 'adventure' a broad interpretation! Your film doesnt have to be Oscar-worthy for us to screen it. We are interested in everything - home videos, documentry, drama, comedy, silent picture, film-noir - whatever!

Remeber, your audience will be UQMC members and alumni who will just be excited to watch whatever campy videos the club's members have come up with. 

​

If you have never filmed or edited a video before, then this is a great opportunity to try it out for the first time!

​

We have some technical requirements: 

​

  • Length: between 2 and 15 minutes

  • Aspect Ratio: 4:3, 16:9, 21:9 horizonal aspect ratio

  • Avoid: Please, no AI-generated content.

Step 2 - Submit your film before 11:59PM on 30 September 2026

​

​

Will my film be screened? 

​

We will aim to screen every submission that meets our technical requirements.

 

In the unlikely event that we receive too many submissions, then we will make an announcement about shortlisting films by 7 October 2026.

​

How will films be judged? 

 

The first, second, and third place winners will be selected by an impartial panel of judges. 

​

The equally-weighted judging criteria are: 

​

  • Community Spirit; ​

  • Sense of adventure; and 

  • Cinematography.

​​

We will also give out a people's choice prize, to be awarded by popular vote!
